ABOUT US
Sportsbuddy is a nonprofit that is founded by two teens at Palo Alto High School. Sports Buddy nonprofit started in 2018 when our founder, Yi-Jie, realized the lack of sports equipment for middle schoolers in near by schools during her volunteer work. This inspired her to start this nonprofit. Being athletes, Yi-Jie and Gwyneth recognized the importance of sports in their life. They hope to bring joy and happiness to needy student's through the love of sports!
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to give children in low-income areas more opportunities to play sports through donations and volunteers. In short term, we use our funds to give donations to schools or to directly provide sports equipment. In long term, we hope to teach sports in nearby summer schools.
WHAT WE DO
With donations and volunteers, we help to provide low income kids with the opportunity to play sports.
Weekly tutoring
Our members have been tutoring since 2018 in Ravenswood district, East Palo Alto, every Thursday. Through mentoring, we have recognize the mathematical difficulties that most students are facing. We came up with plans and tools to help student solidify their math skills. We set up weekly quizzes and review sessions to make sure students are learning effectively.
